Your children will be involved in a program which will help them learn the definitions of 117 academic words this year in kindergarten.  These words have been chosen to help improve test scores in the upper elementary grades.  Children begin taking Standard of Learning test in the third grade and continue taking them until graduating from high school.

Children discuss daily the definition of the academic vocabulary word of the day and then illustrate the word.  The words are kept in a notebook and all words will come home at the end of the school year.
